The
50k to win Sprintcar International at Tyrepower Parramatta
City Raceway (TPCR) proved to be a very worthwhile experience
for Steve Lines and it resulted in him qualifying directly
into the feature race on both nights.
Despite
finishing 19th and 15th respectively in the feature
races, Lines was content with his performance from the
weekend, as he knew how hard he had to fight to just
simply qualify for the feature race. On the opening
night, Lines struggled during the feature race after
he had finished well down the order in 19th having started
in position 11. The final night Lines had improved considerably
by starting out of position 14 and he only lost one
spot by finisheing15th.
“I
learned a lot about how difficult the TPCR track can
be and that it takes alot of laps in order to be consistently
quick around there,” Lines expressed.
“As
it proved the pace you have early in the night doesn’t
necessarily mean you will be quick come feature race
time, and it’s a matter of knowing the track and being
able to read it in order to setup your car.”

Lines
admitted that although he was slightly disappointed
with his end results in the feature races, there was
plenty of experience gained throughout the weekend.
“The
weekend proved to be a very valuable one in terms of
the fact that we learned so much, and we know that in
order to be a front runner at TPCR you have to race
there on a regular basis,” he said.
“With
that said, we proved that we are capable of those strong
results, and it was just our lack of TPCR experience
that caught us out, so now I simply cannot wait to return
next time and continue to become more accustomed with
the place.”
On
both nights Lines qualified for the Dash events in what
was a strong effort, and actually in one of his heat
races he raced wheel to wheel with American World of
Outlaws legend Steve Kinser and won the battle.
There
is no doubt about it; Lines certainly left an impression
at TPCR.
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
