The
past four rounds of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS)
Championship has seen Steve Lines finish in fifth place,
but last night (January 1) saw him break that trend
after recording a second place finish behind Max Dumesny
for the 13th round of the WSS Championship at Warrnambool’s
Premier Speedway in Victoria.
After
winning the B Dash, Lines started the feature race from
outside the front row and throughout the 30-lap distance
held down second place and ended up recording his very
first podium finish in WSS competition.
“The
thrill of fifth place was starting to wear a little
thin, and to finish second is a fantastic result and
a great way to kick off the New Year,” expressed Lines.
“For
the feature race the track was pretty rough, and to
be honest, I liked it, and my car was setup well, as
I was able to maintain consistent speed, and ride through
the bumps without much of a hassle.”

Despite
not progressing forward too much in his two heat races,
with a sixth and a ninth place, Lines still managed
to qualify for the B Dash on the back of his sixth place
result in qualifying time trials. Starting the B Dash
from position four, Lines was able to move to the head
of the field and record victory and this result earned
him a front row start in the feature race, and this
set him up for his podium result.
“I
didn’t make much progress in our heat races, but as
long as I stayed where I was I knew I would be in Dash
due to my strong qualifying result,” Lines explained.
“One
of the highlights of finishing on the podium in WSS
competition was the fact that I did it by finishing
ahead of the likes [Brooke] Tatnell and [Jason] Johnson,
and I didn’t achieve the result by default.”
Loaded
with confidence, Lines, aboard his # 45 Holla-Fresh
supported J&J, will next be in action for the $50,000
to win event at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway this
weekend (January 4 and 5).
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
following organisations: Holla-Fresh, Ad Trans, Maxwill
Race Engines, BR Motorsports, Torque Power, Cascade
Cleaning Solutions, KTM Australia, and Spy Eyewear &
Clothing.
