After
the disappointment of failing to start the World Series
Sprintcar (WSS) Championship at Tyrepower Parramatta
City Raceway (TPCR) the weekend previous, South Australian
Steve Lines returned on Saturday night (December 8)
for the eighth round of the TPCR Sprintcar Track Championship
and it resulted in him finishing the feature race in
seventh place.
Lines
and his team managed to solve the magneto dramas in
the # 45 Holla-Fresh supported J&J from the WSS
Championship round that saw them fail to turn a single
lap in what was a disastrous TPCR debut, but they were
determined to bounce back, and that was exactly what
they did.
“It
was very embarrassing to travel up to TPCR and not even
turn a single lap, but it’s good to be able to come
back the following weekend and finish the feature race
within the Top 10,” Lines remarked.
“With
very little time out on the track before went into qualifying
it was pleasing that I was able to come out 11th quickest,
and with the situation of the heat races being scrapped,
we were placed directly into the feature race.”
Starting
from position 11 in the feature race, Lines’ actual
first race at TPCR was amongst a full feature race field,
and after a rough start, he made his way forward to
finish in an impressive seventh place.

“I
ran off the top of the track on the opening lap of the
feature race in turn three and dropped back to 15th
and I then managed to fight my way back to finish inside
the Top 10, so I was really happy with that,” he said.
“The
main reason to return to TPCR was to attempt to make
up for the embarrassment of the weekend before, and
I feel very content with how I performed throughout
the night, and I look forward to returning in the near
future.”
Lines
will next be in action at Avalon Raceway (Geelong, VIC)
this Saturday night (December 15) for the running of
the annual Fireball Derby, which also doubles up as
the third round of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Super
Sprint Series.
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
following organisations: Holla-fresh, Ad Trans, Maxwill
Race Engines, BR Motorsport, Torque Power, Cascade Cleaning
Solutions, KTM Australia and Spy Eyewear / Clothing.
