A
fifth place finish in the feature race was what Steve
Lines left the second round of the Eureka Garages and
Sheds Super Sprint Series on Saturday night at Premier
Speedway in Warrnambool with, although he was lucky
to even finish as he had a right rear tyre let as he
crossed the finish line.
Lines
started the feature race from position nine in the field,
after two hard fought third places in his heat races,
and worked his way up to fifth place, but it was a wrong
choice of setup that spoiled his chances of making an
appearance on the podium.
“We
burnt away our right rear tyre during the feature race
and we were lucky to reach the finish, but the work
choice of setup resulted in the tyre burning away,”
Lines admitted.
“Our
mid field draws in our two heat races made life difficult,
as the best we could manage was a pair of third place
finishers, and although they were consistent results,
we started too far back in the field to be a shot at
the podium, and our setup didn’t work in our favour
either.”

Lines’
right rear tyre of his # 45 J&J started to go down
in the closing laps, but he counted himself lucky that
he managed to finish in fifth spot.
“I
just held on in the closing laps as I knew my tyre was
going down and there was not very I could do but hope
and pray that the tyre lasted to the finish,” commented
Lines.
Lines
next event will be this Saturday night (December 1)
for the sixth round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS)
Championship at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway.
