In his opening two 410
Sprintcar shows in America last weekend, Australian
Steve Lines certainly impressed and his debut race meetings
have been highlighted by a second place finish in the
feature race last Saturday night at Sharon Speedway
(Hartford, OH).
Driving the Jeff McCall
owned JSM Enterprises # 23 J&J with a Maxwill Race
Engines 410 powerplant, Lines made his 410 debut last
Friday night (August 15) at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver,
PA) and his run in the feature race lasted only the
first turn of the opening lap. After starting the feature
race from position 13, after placing fifth (from position
nine) in his heat race, Lines made contact with another
competitor on the opening lap and that unfortunately
cut down his left rear tyre and ended his run there
and then.
The following night,
Saturday night (August 16) at Sharon Speedway, Lines
had a much better run where he placed third in his heat
race, and started the 25-lap feature race from pole
position. Lines took control of the race for the opening
nine laps up until he suffered rear brake problems and
that consequently dropped back to second, and despite
being one of the fastest cars in the field, the loss
of brakes made it tough in lapped traffic, and he ended
up finishing in second place on the podium.
It was great to get
back into the 410, and from now on the team is now only
going to contest 410 shows in America, Lines commented.
In both of my runs
last weekend I showed that I had good enough pace to
a podium contender, and my second place at Sharon Speedway
proved that well and truly.
This Friday (August
22) and Saturday (August 23) night Lines will compete
in 410 shows once again at Lernerville Speedway and
Sharon Speedway.
Lines would like to
say special thanks to his supporters: JSM Enterprises,
Maxwill Race Engines, BR Motorsports, Wild Wood Collision
(Pittsburg, PA), Camden Neon Signs, and J&J Auto
Racing.
