For the third occasion on his American trip, Australian Steve Lines has
recorded a fourth place feature race finish, and on this occasion it was during
the latest round of the American Sprintcar Series (ASCS) Rebel Region on
Saturday night (July 12) at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.
The night for Lines started out in winning fashion when he drove the # 23
Jeff McCall owned JSM Enterprises J&J from his outside front row starting
position to score a comprehensive heat race victory.
With the Top 8 point scorers from the heat races drawing out their feature
race starting positions, Lines managed to draw marble # 5 and that was where he
lined up for the 25-lap event.
In the feature race Lines struggled to go forward and at the completion of
the 25 laps he greeted the chequered flag just off the podium in fourth
place.
Although pleased to bring home yet another Top 5 result, Lines was
disappointed to not reach the podium around the 3/8 mile clay oval.
“We were pretty good in our heat race, but we weren’t able to build on that
for the feature race,” said Lines.
“Fourth place is still a good result it’s just that we need to work more on
finding that happy medium with the car and I, and when we do that I feel we can
make further progress no doubt.
“At the moment we have the pace we are just not able to do it on a consistent
basis in order to be at the pointy end of the field, but I feel with more track
time that we can improve on that area.”
Lines and the JSM Enterprises team are hopeful of doing some mid-week testing
in readiness for next weekend’s events, Friday night (July 18) at Crossville
Speedway (Crossville TN), and Saturday night (July 19) at Volunteer Speedway
(Bulls Gap TN).
