Travelers
Rest Speedway in Travelers Rest, SC, on Saturday night
(June 28) during the O’Reilly Auto Parts United Sprintcar
‘360’ Series round saw Australian Steve Lines scorch
to victory lane in the feature race.
In
what was only his fourth race meeting since arriving
in America, Lines started the feature race from position
eight and charged his way forward in the 20 lap event
to grab command from Johnny Bridges on the 15th lap.
Once out in front, Lines was never headed and took victory.
After
finishing second in the Power Dash event, Lines started
the feature race from position eight after he had missed
the opening night of the two night show due to competing
elsewhere. Although disadvantaged by that it didn’t
seem to hold Lines back as he was still able to record
the feature race victory honours.
“Since
our first race meeting we have been pretty quick, and
it’s great for the whole team that we were able to turn
that speed into a feature race victory so soon,” a delighted
Lines expressed from his American base of Cherryville,
NC.

“Our
aim now is to record more feature race wins, and I’m
confident that we can achieve this, as we are starting
to jell more as a team and I’m also beginning to get
more used to the level of competition that I’m running
up against.
“It’s
not easy coming over to America racing, as there is
so much you have to get used to such as the drivers
you race up against, the different types of tracks,
and of course working with a new team.”
The
previous night (Friday, June 27) Lines competed at Carolina
Speedway in Gastonia, NC and finished the feature race
in fourth place behind winner Johnny Bridges in the
latest American Sprintcar ‘360’ Series Rebel Region
round.
Lines
would like to say a big thanks to car owner of the #
23 J&J Jeff McCall and the rest of the JSM Enterprises
team for all their support.
This
coming weekend will see Lines step out of the JSM Enterprises
J&J ride to make way for NASCAR driver and ex World
of Outlaws Champion Dave Blaney to run in second round
of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet ‘360’ Challenge.
“As
disappointing as it is to miss out on driving this coming
weekend it is also a wonderful opportunity to be able
to work with a driver such of the class as Dave [Blaney]
and being around him you cannot help but learn,” added
Lines.
Lines’
next event is set down for Saturday night, July 12 at
Dixie Speedway, Woodstock, GA.
