If
the speed alone of Steve Lines last Saturday night at
Speedway City in Adelaide - South Australia during the
fourth round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship
earned feature race podium results, then you most certainly
would have seen him on the podium.
Unfortunately
for Lines that wasn’t the case, as an ongoing ignition
drama with the Holla-Fresh supported # 45 J&J ruined
what was looking to be a very promising night for him,
after he had topped the time sheets in qualifying time
trials, and he then looked on track for a strong finish
in his opening heat race, fifth place from the rear
of the grid, only to fail to finish due to a mystery
ignition problem.
The
ignition drama was fixed in time for the second heat
race, where he finished seventh, Lines then went on
to finish fourth in Dash A and that saw him start the
feature race from the fourth row. Lines was well placed
in seventh place during the feature race only for the
ignition problem to come into play for the second occasion
of the night at just passed half race distance mark,
and consequently failed to finish.
“I
felt we had good enough speed for a podium result, but
the ignition problems spoiled that idea, which was really
disappointing,” Lines said.
“The
night started off great for us as we came out on top
in qualifying and had worked our way passed both Jason
Johnson and Brooke Tatnell in our opening heat race
only for the ignition problem to force me out with a
lap to go.

“In
the feature race we thought we had ironed out the problem,
but it came back and that ended my hopes of a podium
finish.”
Frustration
was one of the adjectives Lines used to describe his
night as a whole, but his focus now turns to next Saturday
night (November 24) at Premier Speedway in Warrnambool
– Victoria for the second round of the Eureka Garages
and Sheds Super Sprint Series.
“Our
engine has been taken back to Maxwill Race Engines to
get a check over and to solve our ignition dramas,”
Lines commented.
“I
have to say that other than the ignition woes the car
is perfect, and our speed has been proven, and we can
only continue to go forward from here on in.
“Heading
to Warrnambool I’m looking for a feature race victory,
and I feel confident of that not only because of my
engine but also the fact that Warrnambool is one track
where I have had a good run of results in the past.”
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
