Third place was the
best Steve Lines could come up with on Saturday night (April 5) at Speedway City
(Adelaide, South Australia) during the running of the annual George Tatnell
Cup.
Lines started the feature race from pole position, after winning the
pole shootout, but a gamble with the setup of his # 45 Camden Neon Signs
supported J&J saw him battle with a slick track and finish in third
place.
“We lucked out with our setup, as we didn’t imagine that the track
was going to go that slick as it did, but once we were out there we just had to
do the best we could,” Lines explained.
“Our gamble with the setup didn’t
work out as planned during the feature race and we were still happy with a spot
on the podium.”
Earlier in the night Lines finished his two heat races in
second place, and his result during the second heat was achieved from a rear of
the field start.
For Lines the George Tatnell Cup was his final meeting
of the 2007/08 season.
Highlights for Lines this season have been winning
the South Australian State Title and finishing on the podium in second place
behind Max Dumesny during the final round of the Speedweek Series as part of the
World Series Sprintcar trail.
Special thanks go to the team owner Dave
Challons, crew chief Craig Bennetts and the rest of the Camden Neon Signs team
for all their support of Lines this season.
