Although
the penultimate round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds
Super Sprint Series was washed out before the feature
race on Saturday night (March 29) at Heartland Raceway
(Moama, NSW), Steve Lines certainly set a cracking pace
up until that point aboard his # 45 Camden Neon Signs
supported J&J.
In
what was the first time he had returned to Heartland
Raceway since winning his maiden Sprintcar feature race
last season, Lines set record breaking pace, where he
managed to set a new lap record, a 13.024, and also
set a new 8-lap record too (1.49.060).
From
his three heat races Lines finished with two wins and
a second placing. Heartland Raceway promoter Dave Roberts
put up a $500 bonus for any driver that broke into the
12 second barrier on the night first, and Lines certainly
looked on track to achieve that.
As
one would imagine Lines was the highest point scorer
heading into the Top 6 Pole Shootout, and that event
was postponed due to the incoming rain, in order to
make way for the feature race, unfortunately the rain
arrived and that cancelled the entire race meeting.
“No
one likes to have their race meeting washed out, and
naturally it was disappointing to not be able to run
the feature race, but as we all know, the weather is
something we cannot control,” Lines commented.
“We
were looking good for the victory in the feature race,
especially after the pace we had shown earlier in the
night.”
This
Saturday night’s (April 5) George Tatnell up is the
event for Lines and that is set to take place at Speedway
City in Adelaide, South Australia.
