South
Australian hard charger Steve Lines once again showed
everybody why he is one of the emerging talents on the
Australian Sprintcar scene after an impressive display
over the weekend during the King of Wings event in his
first visit to the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia.
Although
a sixth place finish in the feature race on the final
night wasn’t a true reflection of the pace he had, the
current South Australian State Title holder quite possibly
could have finished higher had it not been for a misfortune
during the preliminary feature race on the opening night.
Lines
during the preliminary feature race was running strongly
in third place only to suffer a broken front hub in
the closing laps and that saw him forced to disappointingly
retire.
“There
were only a few laps to go in the preliminary feature
race and then the hub broke and that basically put us
on the back foot for the remainder of the weekend unfortunately,”
Lines explained.

“With
your preliminary feature race result weighing so heavily
in regards to your grid draws on the final night, I
didn’t get the best of draws but had we finished third
in the preliminary feature race we most probably would
have started a lot higher than we did.”
On
the final night of the King of Wings Lines, driving
his # 45 Camden Neon Signs backed J&J, started the
feature race from position 8 and at the completion of
the 30-lap journey he had only made up two positions
to finish in sixth.
“The
feature race on the final night was fairly eventful
as I was trading places throughout the race on numerous
occasions for positions fifth and sixth, so that kept
me quite busy,” conceded Lines.
“We
were fast in the feature race, but we weren’t fast enough
to move closer to challenging for a spot on the podium.”
Although
luck wasn’t always on his side throughout the Krikke
Boys Shootout and King of Wings events, Lines certainly
impressed.
Lines
will this Saturday night (March 15) defend his Australian
Stampede crown at Speedway City in Adelaide – South
Australia.
In
