A
rollercoaster ride! That is pretty much the best way
to describe the weekend at Bunbury City Speedway in
Western Australia for Steve Lines for the running of
the annual Krikke Boys Shootout.
In
what was his very first trip to contest the Krikke Boys
Shootout, Lines was in amongst the thick of the action
throughout the two night show, and it certainly impacted
on him from recording a much stronger result.
On
the second and final night Lines, driving his # 45 SA
Camden Neon Signs J&J, was on a charge during the
feature race after he had worked his way up to sixth
place from a position 12 starting spot in the field
by the 25th lap only to be the innocent party in someone
else’s accident and it resulted in some heavy damage
to his car.
“There
was some pretty heavy contact in the impact, as a car
just ahead of me had tried to avoid another car only
to spin himself and that left me with absolutely no
where to go but head-on into him,” explained a disappointed
Lines.

“I
have been through the whole season so far without wrecking
too much, but after this crash we are going to have
to replace this car before we contest next weekend’s
King of Wings.”
Earlier
in the weekend on the opening night Lines had qualified
eighth in time trials, and was looking strong in his
heat race only to have the brake lock on and was forced
to retire and that put him into the B-main. In the B-main
Lines had worked his way up to fifth place and into
a feature race transfer from the back of the field only
to have a spin and then get cleaned up by another car
during the caution period, and that forced him out.
On
the second night Lines was able to fair much better
when he finished his heat race in fourth place, despite
suffering a broken rear shock absorber after contact
from another rival and combined with his night one results
he had earned enough points to qualify for the dash
and in that event he finished in sixth place.
Hoping
for a much better run Lines is set to debut a new car
at the Perth Motorplex for next weekend’s (March 7 and
8) King of Wings event.
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
following organisations: Holla-Fresh, Ad Trans, Maxwill
Race Engines, BR Motorsports, Torque Power, Cascade
Cleaning Solutions, KTM Australia, and Spy Eyewear &
Clothing.
