After
having a shakedown run in the opening round of the Eureka
Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series last weekend in
Victoria, Steve Lines is looking forward to a strong
performance at Speedway City in Adelaide – South Australia
this Saturday night for the running of the annual Australian
Sprintcar Masters.
Lines
and his Steve Lines Racing team managed to overcome
blocked fuel nozzles earlier in the night to finish
the feature race in sixth during the Eureka Garages
and Sheds Super Sprint round last weekend after being
forced to qualify via the B-main, and this has given
the rising talent plenty of confidence heading into
the Australian Sprintcar Masters.
“We
faced some first night problems last weekend, and I’m
glad to say that it is all behind us now and I can now
focus on striving towards podium results,” an upbeat
Lines stated.
“Starting
with the Australian Masters I won’t be amongst the top
five, and that is not going to be an easy task, as there
is a very strong field nominated, it is basically a
World Series field, so this will be a big test early
on the season.”

If
last season’s Speedway City form is of any indication,
then expect to see Lines fighting up the front, as in
his last three appearances at the Speedway City venue
he has impressively recorded two feature race victories
and a second place.
“I’d
be lying if I said my form from last season at Speedway
City doesn’t give me confidence, but that was last season,
and this is a new season, so we will just see how things
pan out,” remarked Lines.
“I’m
not going to get too far ahead of myself, as I know
that I must post a good result in qualifying earlier
in the night, if not, my chances of challenging for
a podium are going to be that much harder, as if it
is not already hard enough.”
For
the 2007/08 season Lines is running the very latest
J&J car that is to be powered by last season’s engine
that has been updated to 410ci specifications, but in
the coming meetings he is expected to debut a brand-new
engine.
The
plans set out for Lines and his team this season is
to contest all of the major shows on the Australian
Sprintcar calendar, along with various domestic shows
throughout South Australia and Victoria.
In
the 2007/08 season Lines is proudly supported by the
following organisations: Holla-Fresh, Ad Trans, Maxwill
Race Engines, BR Motorsport, Torque Power, Cascade Cleaning
Solutions, KTM Australia, and Spy Eyewear / Clothing.
